WHAT IS STEM?

STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

  • "S" stands for science. Being a good observer is the foundation of scientific discoveries. Become a keen observer when you venture into nature. Explore the science behind natural phenomena.
  • "T" stands for technology. You can search and find answers on the internet to solve the problems you're trying to tackle.
  • "E" stands for engineering. STEM lays the foundation for various fields of engineering, creating learning opportunities. For example, when building a tower from cups or constructing a bridge for your plastic animals to cross, you think like a civil engineer. When creating a night lamp for your room, you engage in the field of electrical and electronic engineering.
  • "M" stands for mathematics. Mathematics is everywhere. Even when counting the rings on a cut tree trunk, you're doing mathematics.

STEM is not limited to these four isolated subjects. STEM sparks your curiosity and allows you to blend the knowledge you gain with these disciplines to solve problems. Naturally, you're curious about many things you see around you. STEM education provides you with the opportunity to explore and learn through play.

STEM activities are not about planning numerous activities that require specific materials and processes; they are more focused on developing your inquiry-based learning habits and critical thinking skills.
